What I Got for Christmas 2019

Before we start the post I just wanted to say that with this post I am not showing off or trying to come off as spoilt. I just thought it would make a nice post showing the gifts I received, p.s there’s lots of makeup! Let me know what you got for Christmas in the comments below.

Of course, my family know I am obsessed with makeup, they know it’s my passion and what I love to do as my fulltime hobby. They’ve helped me add to my kit by giving me some palettes I desperately wanted, lippies and eyeliners that were all on my wish list this year. I got 4 palettes, Jeffree star jawbreaker, Blue Blood and Controversy Palette. And the Lunar Beauty Strawberry Palette which I want to post a review of. All these palettes are stunning! I also got a top-up of my go-to brow products. I would recommend Jeffree’s eyeshadows, that’s why I asked for them! I have reviewed some of his stuff in the past so feel free to view it here.

Bath & body

My friends and family know I don’t use Lush anymore so they bought me some bath products from Bomb Cosmetics and they’re the cutest! I have organised all my bath products into a cute basket so I can just grab and go when ready.

I got a couple of candles from my mum, Yankee candle of course. She also got me some pj’s, stationery and makeup bits as well. One of the things I love is a Harry Potter Dobby diary she got me! She’s trying to help me get organised which I fully appreciate. I got some gifts which I can’t use due to skin sensitivity but I will be donating those to homeless/women’s shelters. I advise you guys to do the same, instead of throwing the gifts away or letting them sit on a shelf give them to those neediest.

Where can you get these products? For the UK you can visit https://www.beautybay.com/ or for the Jeffree palettes if you are US-based then you can go directly to https://jeffreestarcosmetics.com/. For the Benefit brow set, you can pick that up from John Lewis.

I am beyond blessed to have received what I did, I am grateful, so grateful. What did you guys get for Christmas? Let me know below. Take care – Beth x

Christmas Eve – Blogmas Day 24

day 244444.jpg

24 days in and we have landed on Christmas Eve. My plans for today are to work for a couple of hours and add the finishing touches to everything. I’ll be going through everything with a checklist today so a checklist of presents I’ve got and wrapped, food that’s been prepped, room tidied and fully decorated and everything is in order for tomorrow.

Once everything is prepared, it’ll be time to wind down, eat some food and chill out watching Christmas specials!

This will only be a short post, but I will be away for a week or so after today’s post has gone live, blogmas has definitely taken it out of me. It’s been a whole lot of work and commitment, I only decided to do blogmas in late November which I guess what a little bit silly. I had everything scheduled for the whole first week of December and then about 7 posts had to be scrapped because I couldn’t find a way of posting them without the original images which of course can be a copyright issue.

But, I think I am going to sound off here. I want to say a massive thank you to each and every single one of you that have read my blogmas posts, that’s supported my Instagram photos and that has just been a friend to me/helping me in the blogging community. Let’s make 2019 incredible!

Have a fantastic Christmas wherever you are, if you don’t celebrate it then just enjoy whatever it is you’re doing and once again, thank you for 2018 All the love – Beth x

Nottingham Christmas Market – Blogmas Day 18

Christmas markets are another great thing about Christmas, I would love to be able to visit the Nuremberg market in Germany! But for now, I best settle for Nottingham, I took some beautiful pictures and wanted to show you around. Feel free to see more images of this market over on my Instagram.

Every year it’s more or less the exact same setup, an Ice rink in the middle of the market, a big bar/restaurant attraction in Market Square and a long row of stalls that are independent businesses selling handmade and generic items. It’s packed with hot chocolate stands, handmade fudge stands and stands where you can buy a reindeer burgers. Not the most appetising on the last part.

FYI this smelt so good when I walked past! No reindeer burger at this one just good old Yorkshire’s.

A place for hotdogs and burgers! Again, it smelt beautiful when I walked past.

Of course this image was taken about two weeks ago when I went to the ice rink in the day time! It was the perfect idea of winter and Christmas.

This is the alpine bar and grill! I wanted to visit here but it was absolutely jam packed, there’s was no chance of us even getting a sniff of the front door.

Of course there is a beautiful huge tree in the middle of Market Square! Simple but stunning.

Me and my sister enjoying the festivities 🎄

How stunning is this market? It’s local to me and it may be small but it does a good job every time. Let me know your favourite Xmas markets in the comments! Take Care – Beth x

Winter Skin Care Routine – Blogmas Day 14

My skin type naturally oily and dry. When it’s humid outside I’ll bring out the matte primers, setting sprays and clay masks. But when it comes to the winter time all of those get pushed to the back of the drawer as I’m gonna need some moisture.

I have two go-to moisturisers currently:

  • E45 – This cream is the go-to for when my skin dries, cracks and becomes sore. The cream is formulated for sores and dryness with no fragrance so it’s loving to your skin without any heavy fragrance.
  • Superdrug Nourishing Gel Moisturiser – This cream is packed full of vitamin C! I love it because it makes my skin look bright and bouncy

I will exfoliate rarely in the winter time, just to get rid of the dead dry skin but of course, I don’t overdo it because it can break my skin open. Which we don’t want because it stings!

All my matte foundations get pushed away to the back of the drawer and I sway more towards dewy foundations as matte will stick to my dry patches. The dewy ones also make me look more glowy which is a go-to at Christmas time. If you still want something oil battling then go for a demi-matte foundation so you have the combo of dewy and matte. The Colourpop foundation is a great one for me to use because it’s a bit of both and doesn’t cling to my dry areas!

Face Masks

Two words, sheet masks. The ones by Simple are great! Unfortunately, I can’t use the Garnier ones as they break me out. But these sheet masks hold so much moisture that my face is very grateful of and I’m glowing afterwards.

Spot Treatments

I cannot avoid using my spot treatments, but the con to them is the salicylic acid. The acid dries the hell out of my skin so I will either let spots reduce on their own depending on size or I will only dot on the treatment to the spots that need it. I use an anti-blemish solution from Clinique, would recommend to all of you breakout/acne sufferers.

Makeup Remover

Using my normal product to remove makeup would be Garnier’s Micellar Water, but this strips the oils and moisture which I don’t need in the winter time. so instead I will either use Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm or YourGoodSkin Hot Cloth Cleanser. Both of these products completely strip the makeup from my face but also restore some moisturising goodness.

Tell me below your winter skincare tips and tricks! 2 weeks into Blogmas, counting down until the big day! Take Care – Beth x

My Christmas Gift Wishlist – Blogmas Day 10

Deciding what I wanted for Christmas back when I was from the ages of birth to 14 was pretty easy. But now I’m almost 21 it seems to have gotten harder what to ask for because they’re things I can just buy myself. In saying this I decided to scour the web for an hour or 2 to seek out things I’d really love! You’re about to see a bit of everything, so to any of my friends and family reading my wishlist then I hope this helps you out when shopping for me!

Jimmy Choo Blossom Perfume

When I used to work at Superdrug, I used to spritz this all over me all of the time, before and after shifts! But I have never been able to bring myself to spend this much money on perfume.

P Louise Base in shade 0

This will help me do so many more makeup looks! Everyone uses it and I want it so bad! Nikkie tutorials who?

Sony A5100 Camera

I have asked my dad for this because it’ll help me take photos for my blog and also to take photos of makeup looks that I do.

Stila Oh My Stars Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Set

I need these! I have wanted them ever since they came out, I’ve used other liquid shadows like this and they’ve been awful.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

Another product I have always wanted to try, I have heard nothing bad about this product and recently I have had no luck with setting powders so I really wanna try this.

Lil Peep COWYS Pt.2 CD

I’m a mega fan of Peep and would love his CD as a keepsake and to play in the car.

Clinique Take The Day Off™ Cleansing Balm

This stuff is absolutely amazing, my skin has improved so much from using this so I would love to upgrade to the full size

Holiday Collection 2018 Velour Liquid Lipstick by Jeffree Star

I want the shade Hi, How Are Ya? It’s a beautiful berry shade with glitter in it and it’s perfect for the festive period. Looks so beautiful.

Day 10 done! Let’s keep pushing through, It’s been insane so far thanks again for all support! Take care – Beth x

Debenhams Christmas Beauty Event – Blogmas Day 9

Rewind back to Thursday this week, I was attending a VIP beauty event at Debenhams in Nottingham. it wasn’t something exclusive I was invited to for a blogging thing it was just purely for any customer.

We were told when we bought the tickets 2 weeks prior to the event that we would be given a goodie bag upon arrival, there would be a bar for free drinks and the store would only be open to VIP ticket holders. Let’s say that wasn’t the case.

When we got there, the store hadn’t been closed for just ticket holders as promised. It was still full of normal customers going about their day doing some Xmas shopping. I found a member of staff to ask if we had to check in with someone to say we had arrived but she said that she hadn’t been told anything so we should go to the manager. After that, I went and spoke to about 5 staff members and no one genuinely had a clue what was going on.

Eventually, the prosecco started being pored and a crowd gathered to get their freebie. (Please note, they were serving prosecco to people way under 18!)  No announcement was put out and no one instructed us on what to do. We then got told that no one was allowed a goodie bag but then people were just going and grabbing bags. Then all of a sudden we were allowed one, confusing, I know. But the catch was that it wasn’t free, it was only given to you after you made a purchase at a counter.

The event in itself was so poor, staff didn’t seem bothered and I hate being negative but the day was spoilt because it was a shambles. I still tried to make something good of a bad situation though, so I took advantage of the 15% off and raided the makeup section.

What I bought:

Laura Geller Life Glows On Highlighter Palette

 RRP £22, Discounted Price £19.60

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

RRP £33.50, Discounted price £28

Clinique – Beauty Sleep Set

RRP £29, Discounted Price £24.65

Clinique Anti-blemish Solution

RRP £16, Discounted Price £13.60

Also, the lovely girls at the Clinique counter threw some freebies in for me which consisted of a mirror, mascara and 4 trial sizes of skincare.

Benefit  B Bright! Skincare Set

RRP £12.50, Discounted price £10.62

Day 9 ticked off, just wanted to stop and say thank you so much for all the support! My stats have gone crazy and everyone has been so bloody lovely! Thanks to everyone. Take care – Beth x

Glitter Cut Crease Makeup Tutorial – Blogmas Day 7

Christmas, time for the family get-togethers or the work Xmas party. You wanna look your best, so whatever the occasion this holiday season, I have created a beautiful glitter cut crease tutorial to make your eyes shine brighter than the tinsel on the tree 🎄

Step 1

Fill in the brows to your desired shape and thickness with whatever product suits you best. I am using a pomade from BH Cosmetics. Outline the brows with a concealer of your choice, I am using the Collection concealer in Extra Fair as a base for eyeshadow and blending it out. As it slightly oxidised I set my brow bone will the shade Starlight from the Belle Jordan Obsession palette.

Step 3

I started by taking the shade Pops which is a light orange/brown shade and stippling it into the crease. After stippling, I took a Zoeva Luxe Crease brush and blended it all out.

Step 4

I then took a darker brown shade from a BH palette and blended that below the first shade.

Step 5

Finessing the rest of the blending, I finally added the shade Lola from Belle’s palette which is a highly pigmented black. I used a Makeup Geek Defined Crease Brush to pack this below my two brown shadows.

Step 6

Then I am taking the Collection Glitter Liner, cutting the crease with it and then blending the black shadow back in with edge of the liner so it doesn’t look so harsh!

Step 7

Adding lashes by Glamify Beauty in the style Cheeky Flirt, then going in with an inner corner highlighter and I am all set.

Product List:

Brows -BH Studio Pro pomade in Caramel

Eyeshadow -Obsession Belle Jordan Palette

Glitter – Collection Glam Crystal Liner in Glitz

LashesGlamify Beauty in the style Cheeky Flirt

Highlighter – Obsession Committed Palette

Day 7, I hope you enjoyed, you can find this look over on my Instagram below. Take care – Beth x

The Christmas Tag – Blogmas Day 6

I came across this tag when I was looking for some Blogmas inspo and another blogger that goes by the name makeupsavvy did a thing called The Christmas Tag where they answered questions about the best bits about Christmas, traditions and what they get up to. I thought it would be fun so here we go! Also, welcome to day 6, nearly a week in and I am on time, who would have thought.

What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?

I am stuck between 3, the top one has to be The Grinch, second is Nativity and third is The Flinstones Christmas Carol.

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

We open 1 on Christmas Eve, most on Christmas Day and then 1 on Boxing Day.

Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

If I am honest, there’s been some iconic Christmas Days within my family. One year, my dad fell asleep, left the oven on and completely cremated our dinner.

Favourite festive food?

I just can’t help but eat mountains full of chocolate over Christmas, Pringles are also a ‘Christmas’ food to me too but you cannot beat a turkey dinner. With pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese and stuffing! Oh now I am hungry, I can just taste it as I type this out.

Favourite Christmas gift?

That I have ever received? Easily my Mac from my lovely mum and dad. They bought it for me when I was making a lot of film in college. As a kid, it would have to be this Bratz dollhouse they bought me, I was OBSESSED! I got this when I was about 7/8 so we are going back about 13/14 years ago.

Favourite Christmas scent?

Has to be the smell of pine or fir, the smell of a Christmas tree. Cranberry is a beautiful scent around this time too and can I say the smell of a Christmas dinner is another one of my favourite scents?

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

Our Christmas Eve traditions usually involve preparing everything for work the next day as all my family work in the food industry, on Xmas day we seat around 200 people in 3 hours so it’s hectic! Once everything is prepped we usually sit around in front of the tv, hot drink in hand and have a chat. It doesn’t sound much but it’s special to us.

What tops your tree?

Usually, my mum puts a really vintage doll on the top, sounds creepy, it is. But she decorates it every year so it’s only fair she adds her own touch to it.

As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

I don’t want to sound spoilt but I have never been disappointed, one Christmas I asked for a dog and my dad walked in the door with Jake in his arms!

What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

Everything, from the build up tot he big day. I try and cherish everyday of december.

Feel free to recreate this post and copy the questions, I hope you have enjoyed Blogmas. Posting every day has been hard, I have had to delete about 5 posts and start them from scratch but I wanna be consistent and deliver! Take care – Beth x

The Best Things About Christmas – Blogmas Day 4

It definitely it the most wonderful time of the year, from the lights to the films, even to the stressful shopping. I’ll be covering everything that I think are the best things about Christmas! Also, welcome to day 4 of Blogmas.

Although I despise the smell of cinnamon, I can tolerate it for the holiday season. I do adore the scents of fir because it reminds me of the tree and cranberry because it reminds me of the food of course. My favourite festive candle scented easily would have to be either cranberry ice from Yankee Candle or The Perfect Tree from Yankee again.

Four Yellow Lighted Candles

Pig in blankets, turkey, stuffing and of course cheese! Brie, bacon and cranberry has become my favourite sandwich to eat recently. Gives me those Christmas vibes. The chocolates are another great thing because you can be given a reason to sit there and eat a full tub of Roses without anyone judging you. I almost forgot hot chocolate too! I could bathe in that stuff.

Clear Long Stem Drinking Glass

Putting the decorations up is one of the best things because this secures that it’s nearly time for the big day. It’s a great time to soak up the festive atmosphere whilst hanging up the shiny tinsel or putting the star on the top of the tree.

Close-up of Christmas Tree

As stressful as it is, I love it, rushing around whilst the Christmas tunes play in the background. You can’t beat it. I love buying the little things too like choosing the colour scheme for my wrapping paper, ribbon, tags etc.

Photo of Christmas Presents

People moan when they hear these songs played on repeat about 50 times a day but the music is the best part for me! 1 song can easily give you the warmth and excitement that Christmas holds. The songs i’ll list include originals and the covers that I love! My top songs have to be;

Last ChristmasWham

In the Bleak MidwinterBert Jansch

O Holy NightMariah Carey

A Spaceman Came Travelling – Chris de Burgh

Silent Night – Sinead O’Connor

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas – Michael Buble

Christmas films & TV specials

The Grinch, Nativity and The Flintstones Christmas Carol easily come into my top 3 films to binge watch during the mas period. Bridget Jones Diary is also a Christmas movie for me, don’t ask why but I love it. Chicken Run was always shown on BBC 1 on Boxing Day so that’s also stuck out as a Christmas film for me too. this time of year means the best programs come onto the tv, in the UK they do anyway. I have watched a variety of specials which I will list below, feel free to go take a look at them over on Youtube, they’re genuinely ones that I love.

The Vicar of Dibley (the one with the three lunches is hilarious!)

Dinnerladies (not extremely Christmassy but Victoria Wood was legendary)

Gavin & Stacey (if you haven’t watched this one, are you even British?)

The Royle Family (the one with the Dyson hoover is the best)

Day number 4 done, writing this post gave me that warm Christmassy feeling wrapped up with excitement, I love it. Feel free to comment below your favourite thing about Christmas, or tweet me! Take care – Beth x
